Taking the Land
Under Joshua’s leadership, the
children of Israel enter the land. According
to the Word of God given to Israel through
the Law, they were to completely wipe out
all of the inhabitants that currently dwell
in the land which they were entering. This
was to prevent the children of Israel from
being influenced by their neighbors to
reject God’s Word and follow after the
false gods of the nations. By creating a
nation from the children of Israel,
delivering them from the rule of foreign
nations, dwelling with them, providing
them with the Law, and giving them the
land from which they are to rule the
nations, God is beginning to fulfill His
national promise to Abram.
