The Antagonist…
The Serpent, which was to be ruled
by God’s Word to the man through the
woman, approaches the man through the
woman with his own wisdom that directly
contradicts the Word of God and threatens
to reverse the order of God’s rule. He
entices the woman to reject God’s Word in
favor of his. The Serpent claims that eating
from the tree which God had prohibited
will not result in death, but instead will
allow the the man and the woman to be
like God and have their own wisdom from
which they can determine right and wrong
for themselves.
